Ellis report due

Convicted child abuser Peter Ellis
was in Dunedin today with his counsel Judith
Ablett Kerr QC to receive the report of the
ministerial inquiry into his case. Last week, Justice Minister Phil Goff
confirmed he had seen the report which would be publicly released this week.
Debate has raged over the case since Ellis' conviction in 1993 on charges of
sexually abusing children in his care at the Christchurch Civic crèche. Ellis
was released in February last year and Mr Goff announced the ministerial
inquiry a month later.
