Dunedin author to study report
by Sally Rae
Dunedin author
Lynley Hood will study the report of the ministerial inquiry into the Peter
Ellis case and may add a few pages to her forthcoming book about the
controversial creche case.
A City Possessed will be published by Longacre Press and released later this
year.
Last night, Ms Hood said Chief Justice Sir Thomas Eichelbaum had spent 400
hours looking at the children's interviewing, while she had spent 17,000
hours "looking at the whole picture".
Ms Hood was surprised how emphatic the report was, considering all the
ambiguities that had been found in the case.
"It's remarkably forceful for the limited ambit of the inquiry."
"It does suggest it is more out of determination to put the case away
rather than to actually address the problems it throws up," she said.
