New editor for Star-Times
The Sunday Star-Times has a new editor -
award-winning journalist Cate Brett.
Brett, deputy editor of The Press in Christchurch,
starts next month, succeeding Suzanne Chetwin.
"The Sunday Star-Times has a talented team of journalists and is
uniquely positioned to deliver the stories that matter to all of us,"
Brett said.
"I relish the challenge of making this paper an essential part of New
Zealanders' Sunday."
Brett has been with The Press since 1999 and has been editor of the Weekend
Press since it was launched last year. Before that she was a senior writer on
North & South magazine for seven years.
Fairfax Sunday Newspapers publisher Terry Quinn said Brett's experience would
be invaluable "as we continue to develop and improve New Zealand's
only national broadsheet newspaper".
Fairfax NZ Ltd editor-in-chief Peter O'Hara said Brett was a respected
journalist who had contributed strongly to the development of The Press and
Weekend Press.
"Fairfax
is proud to announce that Cate has been chosen to lead the Sunday Star-Times.
"As an accomplished journalist and experienced editor, she will ensure
that Sunday readers have a high quality broadsheet newspaper."
Meanwhile, Star-Times Wellington reporter Jonathan Milne has been appointed
the newspaper's political editor, working out of the parliamentary press
gallery.
Milne was a finalist in the senior reporter category at this year's Qantas
awards.
