New Ellis petition delivered

A second petition calling for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Peter Ellis case has been presented in Christchurch.

The former Civic Creche worker was found guilty of offences against seven children in 1993.

A former colleague, Gaye Davidson, presented the petition, which bears more than 3000 signatures, to the National MPs Don Brash and Katherine Rich.

Rich says it has been been signed by Arthur Allan Thomas as well as nine former Creche children and 17 parents.

Rich hopes the select committee that is conducting an initial inquiry into the case will urge the government to undertake a full commission of inquiry.
