Tea Ropati - League Star accused
of rape |
||
Radio NZ The former rugby league player Tea
Ropati has been found not guilty of six charges of sexually violating a woman
in an Auckland bar in 2006. The 41-year-old denied all charges
during his trial at the Auckland District Court. The complainant told the court she
didn't remember much of what happened on the night because she was drunk and
had taken cocaine. Mr Ropati maintained he engaged in
consensual sexual activity with the 36-year-old, and that they never had
intercourse. Judge Phil Gittos told the jury
before it retired early yesterday afternoon, to consider the reliability of
key witnesses as many had said they were drunk. |
