A woman who alleges she was raped
by a police officer nearly 20 years ago says she feared she was going to be
killed. A former Far North constable is on
trial at Auckland District Court on eight charges, including four of rape,
relating to an incident in 1988. The complainant told the court she
was asked to drop the officer home after being at a bar, but he told her to
stop at the police station, where he put handcuffs on her, led her to an
office and raped her several times. Afterwards she says she told the
officer he had raped her, but he replied that he had not and that she had
enjoyed it. The defence told the court the sex
was consensual.
