Woman under cross examination

The jury in the trial of a former police officer accused of rape has been told handcuffs and sex were discussed on the night of the attack.

The former far north constable is on trial at the Auckland District Court on 8 charges, including 4 of rape, in relation to an incident in 1988.

He denies the charges.

The woman says she was handcuffed without warning and raped by the officer several times in a police station.

Under cross-examination it's been revealed the woman was at a bar that evening with friends who were discussing sexual activities and using handcuffs.

The complainant's told the court she did not contribute to the conversation, but the accused was also at the bar and may have overheard it.
