Defence says rape complainent told police officer she may have led on the accused

The defence says a woman who alleges she was raped by a former constable told another police officer she may have led on the accused.

A 47 year old former Far North officer is on trial at the Auckland District Court, facing eight historical charges including four of rape.

Under cross examination, defence lawyer Gary Gotlieb questioned the 63 year old woman about a discussion she had with a sergeant.

He says the woman told the sergeant she was a bit of a flirt and may have led the defendant on.

He also claims she told the officer she felt quite turned on about what had happened and didn't want to make an official complaint.

The woman told the court she did not say any of this.

The sergeant had been drinking with the accused prior to the alleged rape in 1988
