A former Far North police officer
acquitted of a rape accusation dating from 1988, says the allegation has
wreaked havoc on his family. At the Auckland District Court
last night, Timothy Ogle, 47, was found not guilty of seven charges relating
to an incident in 1988. Mr Ogle stood in the dock with his eyes closed and
wept as the foreman read out the verdicts. The complainant was not in court
for the verdict. Mr Ogle said he has always
maintained his innocence and the allegation has haunted him for years. His lawyer says the police found
there was no case to answer in their initial investigation, and this
prosecution should never have been taken |
