Complaint false - cops
Porirua police say the reported abduction and sexual
assault of a 16-year-old girl at Ascot
Park last Saturday
never took place.
The girl had complained to police that she had been abducted by three men and
taken away in a car and sexually assaulted after taking her two younger
brothers to the playground at Ascot
Park on January 5.
Many people were watching a touch rugby tournament when the alleged incident
took place.
Police launched an extensive investigation seeking three men seen in the area
at the time. They also sought a Honda Vigour car. After speaking to the
driver and two other occupants they were able to eliminate the trio from
their inquiry.
Inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Gold said police were now
satisfied the alleged incident was made up. The girl had been referred to
Youth Aid, and no decision had been made on whether the girl would be charged
with making a false complaint
