Dancer sentenced for rape claim

A part-time Wellington dancer who falsely complained to police she had been raped during the height of a spate of inner-city sex attacks has been sentenced to 100 hours community service.

Ricki Anne Livingstone, 18, had pleaded guilty to making a false complaint, three charges of theft and one of breach of bail.

Wellington District Court judge Margaret Lee said yesterday police spent 350-400 hours investigating her complaint after Livingstone had told her employer in May last year that she had been held down by one man and raped by another.

Livingstone had eventually admitted the complaint was false. The only explanation she had given was that she was drunk. She also said she had a drug addiction.
