Kidnapping story was false

Nelson police say allegations that a young man was kidnapped and assaulted in the city last weekend are false. Officers interviewed the 17-year-old Nelson youth after he was allegedly pulled into a car full of men near the BP Washington service station and beaten up. Police were told that the teenager managed to escape from a warehouse he was taken to. Detective Darryl Adlam said that following an investigation, police were satisfied the assault had not taken place, and there was no need for public concern. He said the youth had a ``number of issues'' and would not be charged with laying a false complaint.
