Rapist could have been at same event as victim

Hastings police say the person who raped a 12-year-old girl could have been at the same gathering as her earlier in the night.

They say the girl was raped in Ebbett Park Primary School between 11pm on Saturday and 2am on Sunday.

Constable Lisa Tod says the girl was on her way home from a ''krumping'' dance gathering in the centre of Hastings.

Ms Todd says police are looking for a Maori, possibly in his teens.

Officers are looking at surveillance cameras to try to establish whether she was followed from the event.
