Police in Hastings will have to wait several weeks for DNA results

Police investigating the rape of a 12 year old in Hastings say it will be several weeks before they have the results of DNA tests on the girl's clothing.

They say the girl was attacked in the grounds of a primary school more than a week ago, as she made her way home from a gathering in the city centre.

Detective Sergeant Mike Foster says the police have spoken to most of the people who were at the event in an effort to identify the alleged offender.

They've also viewed videotapes from council surveillance cameras
