Northland tourism bosses unhappy with publicity about sex attack

Northland tourism bosses say the area is as safe as anywhere else in the country to visit and they are unhappy at intense publicity about a second sex attack at picturesque Haruru Falls.

A British visitor was dragged off a track by a man on Wednesday and sexually assaulted - two years after a Dutch couple were attacked at the falls and the woman raped.

Police are still searching for the man responsible for the latest attack.

Northland Tourism Development chairman David Perks says it is ironic he was meeting police yesterday morning, before news broke of Wednesday's attack.
