Bay of Plenty Times Police
have closed the inquiry into an alleged rape at a Tauranga cemetery last
Saturday night and are no longer seeking anyone in relation to the case. A
20-year-old woman claimed she was raped in the cemetery, on the corner of
18th Ave and Fraser St, the night after she said a similar attempt had been
made by the same man and four of his friends. The woman
claimed she fought off the man and his friends when they attempted to
sexually assault her in the Library Arcade on Willow St between 1am and 2am
on Saturday morning. She then alleged that at 10pm that night one of the men
dragged her into the cemetery and raped her. Police
refused to comment when asked whether any charges would be laid. |
