Cemetery rape inquiry dropped
NZPA

Police have dropped an investigation into the alleged rape of a woman in a Tauranga cemetery last week.

The investigation was launched after the woman told police she was attacked by several men she knew casually on the night of November 21.

She managed to escape but was attacked again the next night by one of the men during which she was dragged into a cemetery and raped, striking her head on a headstone.

But police said yesterday that the inquiry had closed and they were no longer seeking anyone in relation to the case.
