	Allegations of sexual abuse were made by ex members of the Exclusive Brethren Church in October 2006. They claim that abuse was widespread and was kept quiet by the church. The allegations were made at the same time as there had been considerable publicity about the church, associated with the support of some Church members of the National Party and hiring private investigators to follow the Prime Minister and her husband.
