The High Court trial of
a former Christchurch religious brother has been delayed until next week. Fifty-eight-year-old
Bernard Kevin McGrath was facing 54 charges of alleged sexual abuse against
boys at the former Marylands school during the 1970s. He now faces a total of
46 charges after pleading guilty at the start of the trial to a charge of
indecent assault, and this week seven charges were withdrawn. The trial has been
delayed because McGrath is ill. It is expected to
resume next week. |
