A former St John of God
brother facing multiple charges of sexual abuse of boys has said he is a
victim too. Bernard McGrath is
denying over 40 counts of sexual abuse at Marylands School in the 1970s. Today jury members at
the High Court in Christchurch continued to view footage of a 2003 police
interview in which McGrath told police he too was a victim of the abuse and
the whole system. He spoke of how he knew
other brothers were abusing boys and thought he was going to be copping all
the blame. During the interview
McGrath denied allegations he had committed obscene acts. |
