Boys home
Letter to the Editor
by L Brown, Temuka

I am writing to say how well I was treated during my upbringing at the Salvation Army Bramwell Booth Boys Home at Temuka.

We were given a good grounding in all life skills.

In all the time I was there I found them firm but fair.

We were also given a good grounding in Christian beliefs, which has stood me in good stead for all of my life.

I cannot raise my hat high enough in respect for the dedication and caring shown to me by the managers and staff who were there during my time at the home.

I am now well into my 80s and put this longevity down, in a large part, to the sound upbringing they gave me. I am sure the other boys of my era would also agree with me.

I wish to sincerely say "God bless" to all those dedicated Salvation Army officers and staff.
