	The Press October 22 2004 Deep remorse Letter to the Editor by Turi Gibbs, Hokitika I was a longtime friend of Andy Read, the man who killed Waiouru army cadet Grant Bain. I know that Andy felt deep remorse and shame and also had tried his hardest to learn from the unforgivable mistakes he had made. I also believe that the army's dealings with these matters were unforgivable. I also believe that Andy would have faced his crimes again if he could. I only knew Andy. I didn't know a bully.
