Catholic brother faces new charges
The
number of charges against a former Catholic brother accused of sex abuse today
rose to 31.
Some 30 fresh charges were laid against Bernard Kevin McGrath in the
Christchurch District Court.
McGrath, 56, is now alleged to have abused around 18 boys at the
The boys were aged between 12 and 16 at the time. The school, which is now
closed, was run by the St John of God order of brothers. McGrath was remanded
on bail for six weeks.
