Twenty Catholic and Anglican bishops oppose Don Brash's views on the Treaty and race-based privileges (March 1).

Yet Bishop Dunn, in refusing legal obligation by the Catholic Church for sex abuse by its priests, has said that "I cannot see that a later generation is in some way liable for the harm done by a deceased person".

Does the Catholic Church want a dollar each way in believing the same rule does not apply to legal obligation for land stolen from Maori by now-deceased people?
