Jury still out in rape case

There is still no word from the jury in the historical rape charges trial at the High Court in Auckland.

Jurors resumed their deliberations at the high court at 9am.

The jury of seven men and five women has now spent 12 hours considering whether Assistant Police Commissioner Clint Rickards and former colleagues Brad Shipton, and Bob Schollum raped and sexually assaulted Rotorua woman Louise Nicholas in the mid 1980s.

Yesterday, it returned twice to ask questions, but today, except for a short, in-chambers gathering of the legal team, court twelve has been silent.

The accused's family and friends remain at court. However the wait is clearly arduous, with strain showing on a lot of faces.
