Child sex abuse
hysteria and the Ellis case |

Rape Crisis is again misinforming
the public about rape. In recent months, Dr Kim McGregor and others from that
group have made claims which go unchallenged and unjustified. Those claims include teaching in
High Schools that "1 in 3 girls" and "1 in 6 boys" will
be raped or sexually abused. The studies they cite are methodologically and
factually flawed, and therefore reached false conclusions. Without credible evidence, they
keep repeating their mantra that "rape is hugely under-reported". The revised Evidence Act will
allow a defendant to review the video tapes of a complainant's interview. In
a naïve knee-jerk reaction, Rape Crisis suggests such tapes might end up on
the internet. Through claims such as these,
McGregor shows she is not an "expert". Any claim made by Rape
Crisis should be taken with a very large pinch of salt. |
