Louise Nicholas to take stand again

        John Dewar

The Crown has opened its case against the former head of the Rotorua CIB, who is accused of covering up Louise Nicholas' allegations of sex abuse.

John Dewar faces four charges dating back to the early 1990s.

The Crown alleges Dewar knew and was friendly with Clint Rickards, Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum, and even engaged in group sex with Shipton and another woman.

Prosecutor Mark Zarifeh alleges Dewar tried to deflect attention away from the allegations against the three men by focussing on earlier allegations made by Louise Nicholas against another former officer, who has since been acquitted.

Thirty one witnesses will be called by the crown and Louise Nicholas will take the stand this afternoon.
