John Dewar Name suppression has been lifted
for the former head of the Rotorua CIB accused of perverting the course of
justice. John Dewar spoke to Louise
Nicholas early in 1993 about alleged sexual misconduct by police officers. Dewar faces four charges including
suppressing or failing to act on an allegation, two of giving inadmissible
hearsay evidence to a previous criminal trial and one of manipulating Louise
Nicholas. Justice Hanson said it was
inconceivable the jury would not have heard of subsequent trials related to
this case, but said they had to put that out of their heads. Louise Nicholas is expected to
take the stand this afternoon. |
