Louise Nicholas finishes giving evidence

Louise Nicholas has completed her testimony at the High Court trial of a former detective, who is accused of covering up her rape complaints against police officers.

Former Rotorua CIB head John Dewar is defending four charges of attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice at the High Court in Hamilton.

His defence counsel Paul Mabey accused Mrs Nicholas of courting media coverage, which she denied. He then continued to highlight inconsistencies in her testimony, including statements she signed but now admits she did not read properly. He also challenged the changing nature of her testimony about the historical sexual activity.

Under re-examination by Crown prosecutor Brent Stanaway, Louise Nicholas said she was worried Dewar was going to lose his job because of a police internal inquiry.
