The trial of a former top Rotorua detective
has been adjourned for a second time because of illness. John Dewar is accused of
attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice by covering up sexual
assault claims Louise Nicholas made against his police colleagues, Clint
Rickards, Bob Schollum and Brad Shipton. Court was adjourned on Thursday
afternoon because Dewar's senior counsel Paul Mabey QC fell ill. He was still
too sick to return to court on Friday morning. Earlier this week a juror was
discharged because of illness and the trial continued with 11 jurors instead
of 12. The trial will resume on Monday |
