Nicholas vs John Dewar |

A second District Court judge has
testified at the trial of a former Rotorua detective, in the High Court at
Hamilton. John Dewar is facing four charges
of attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice, in relation to
rape complaints by Louise Nicholas. Judge David McDonald was the Crown
prosecutor in the three trials of a Murapara officer alleged to have molested
Louise Nicholas. He testified Dewar gave evidence
about a conversation with another officer who allegedly said he would lie on
the stand to protect his mates, and in the second trial he talked of an
alleged consensual sexual relationship between Louise Nicholas and Clint
Rickards, Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum. McDonald said Dewar had a cavalier
attitude to the two mistrials and said he just wanted to level the playing
field. |
