A former Crown prosecutor who is
now a judge has given evidence in court today at the trial of former top
detective John Dewar. District Court Judge David
McDonald says he demanded Mr Dewar write a report explaining why he
introduced hearsay evidence in the rape trial of a policeman. The judge told the High Court in
Hamilton he was furious with the former head of the Rotorua CIB, who caused
the trial of the former police officer to be aborted for a second time. Mr Dewar is charged with various
offences surrounding suppressing or failing to act on sexual complaints
against policemen. |
