One of four men accused
of pack-raping a woman in Mount Maunganui in 1989 has recalled in a statement
that the complainant seemed to enjoy their sexual encounter. A policeman has read
the statement to a High Court jury this morning. Detective Sergeant
Maxwell Taylor told the court the accused said in a statement prior to his
arrest in July last year that he was told to meet at an empty building at a
certain time on a sunny day in January 1989. He saw the other three
accused men outside and then went in by himself. The accused saw the
woman sitting on the floor and thought she seemed fine and not stressed. The pair talked for a
while then had sex, which he thought she enjoyed. The accused said he
left the building together with the woman. |
