Allegations of Sexual

The Crown has told the
court of appeal that fresh evidence presented to the court in relation to the
appeal against pack rape convictions, completely lacks credibility. Four men who were
convicted of abducting and raping a woman in Mount Maunganui in 1989 are
appealing their convictions. The new evidence from
two men backs up claims by one of the accused men, Warren Hales, that the
complainant was friendly to him when they met a week after the alleged rape. The Crown says it is
clear both men saw Hales' evidence and compared their stories before
submitting them to the police. The case has concluded
and the judges reserved their decision. |
