A juror has been discharged for
medical reasons in the case of the New Plymouth doctor facing sex charges. The jury has now been deliberating
since midday on Tuesday, making it one of the longest times out for a jury in
New Plymouth. The sick juror saw a doctor yesterday and was discharged by
Justice Priestly last night. The doctor faces 37 charges of
sexually offending against 12 female patients between 1981 and 2002. The
11-person jury will continue their deliberations in a trial that has
considerable public interest in Taranaki.
