Police charge complainant
by Police Reporter
Inquiries into an alleged assault have resulted in
the complainant being charged with making a false complaint.
Detective Sergeant Tim Smith said the investigation had been wound up after
the woman had been interviewed. She had been taken to hospital after being
found apparently semi-conscious near the Park Road entrance to the Esplanade at 10.15pm on Tuesday night.
'The 24-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with breach of bail and
making a false complaint that an offence had been committed,' Mr Smith said.
She was to appear this morning in Palmerston North District Court. She had
been due to appear in the Manukau District Court today on 15 separate charges
of making a false complaint and breaches of the telecommunication act.
