Women found guilty of false rape claim

A Waikato woman in her 40s has been found guilty of making a false rape complaint against a police officer.

Last year the woman claimed she was raped multiple times by the officer, who has since left the police.

But detectives say the woman made up the claims, in an act of revenge, after the policeman arrested her.

The head of the police inquiry says the decision has brought relief to the former officer she accused of rape.

The woman has also been found guilty of making a false sexual assault claim against a non-sworn female employee.
