Two separate complaints
of rape made to Hamilton police last night have turned out to be false. They
were made by women aged 18 and 19. Detectives spent the
night trying to identify and find the alleged offenders before discovering
the claims were false. Detective Sergeant Nigel Keall says such complaints
have a negative impact on society's perception of sexual offending, and do
not help genuine victims who need support. Police have not decided
whether to press charges against the women |
