Rape accused acquitted

A District Court jury last night acquitted Palmerston North joiner Trevor Ernest Connolly of rape. The jury of seven woman and five men took about seven hours to reach its verdict, and returned with the not-guilty decision about 9pm. Connolly, 47, was found guilty on one charge of threatening to kill, and was remanded on bail for sentencing on September 15.
