A Wellington woman, 22,
is to be considered for police diversion for making a false complaint of rape.
She was charged after
allegedly making a complaint to police that she was raped by a taxi driver in
Johnsonville more than two weeks ago. If accepted for the diversion scheme,
she could have the charge withdrawn without gaining a conviction. The woman's name was
suppressed by a Wellington District Court registrar yesterday. She is due to
appear in court again on September 14. |
