Teen 'made up' gagged, blindfolded complaint

A 14-year-old girl who claimed she was accosted, gagged and blindfolded in a Rotorua park has been referred to the police youth aid service for making a false complaint.

Detective Lehi Hohaia said the girl told police on August 24 she had been accosted by three young males who followed her to a reserve in Western Heights.

She said she was dragged to a playground where she was tied up, gagged and blindfolded.

She told police the boys then cut her hair and her uniform with a pair of scissors.

Police were not looking for anybody else in relation to the incident, Mr Hohaia said.
