Suppression in false statement case

A woman from Chch, who claimed she was attacked while out jogging, has appeared in court charged with making a false statement to the police.

She had reported being stabbed at the Styx Mill Reserve last month, sparking a huge search.

Judge Oke Blaikie suggested that a plea of not guilty be entered, for the matter to be considered further at a status hearing in August.

Blaikie ordered that interim name suppression continue - saying the woman had suffered from serious health problems and increased stress levels prior to the incident
