Sex charges acquittal

A 47-year-old company director has been cleared of sex offences against a schoolboy. A jury in the High Court in Wellington yesterday found the man not guilty of 27 charges of sexually abusing the boy. The offences were alleged to have happened in Wellington between 1977 and 1981, when the boy was aged between 11 and 15. Defence lawyer Letizea Ord said the pair engaged in mutual sexual activity when the boy was over the age of 16, and he had mistaken the timing of the events.
