Allegations of Sexual
Abuse in NZ |
|
A 47-year-old company director was
yesterday cleared of historical sex charges against a schoolboy. A jury in the High Court in
Wellington found the man not guilty of all 27 charges against him of sexually
abusing the boy in a variety of ways, from kissing through to sodomy. The alleged offences happened in
Wellington between 1977 and 1981, when the boy was aged between 11 and 15
years. Defence lawyer Letizea Ord told
the court the accused, whose name was suppressed, did not sexually molest or
abuse the boy. The pair engaged in mutual sexual
activity and contact after the boy was over the age of 16 and the boy had
mistaken the timing of the events. |
