An Upper Hutt woman who accused
her partner of trying to strangle her has admitted she made it up. Anne Louise Watts, 31, was
sentenced in Masterton District Court yesterday to 40 hours' community work
for making a false statement. Watts told the court that on the
day her partner was due to fight the assault charge at a defended hearing,
she realised it was time to tell the truth.
