A Sydney magistrate has
ordered two Catholic clergymen back to New Zealand over allegations they
abused their former students. Raymond Garchow and
Rodger Moloney are accused of indecently assaulting former students at
Christchurch's Marylands school for boys with learning and intellectual
disabilities. The pair, aged 57 and
69 respectively, have appeared in court in Sydney where New Zealand
authorities have successfully sought to have them extradited. But a third man,
83-year-old Catholic Brother William Lebler has convinced the court to allow
him to stay in Australia on health grounds. The
charges against the men date back almost 50 years. |
