Two Catholic clergymen facing
historical sex abuse charges against children will touch down in Christchurch
tonight. On Monday, the High Court in
Sydney turned down an application by Brother Rodger Maloney and Father
Raymond Garchow to appeal their extradition order. Their lawyer Greg Walsh has
confirmed he will be escorting the men to Sydney this afternoon where they
will then be put on a plane to Christchurch this evening. He says the pair will arrive at
around midnight and will appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow
morning. Mr Walsh says a bail application
will be made. The men are facing charges of committing various sexual
offences against young boys between 1971 and 1980 at the former Maryland's
