Two Catholic clergymen
extradited from Australia to face child sex charges, have been granted bail
in the Christchurch District Court this morning. 71-year old Rodger
William Moloney faces 28-charges while 58-year old Raymond John Garchow faces
four charges of sexually abusing boys at Marylands school in Christchurch in
the 1970s. The two men arrived
from Sydney late last night after losing their three-year fight against
extradition. Their lawyer Chris
McVeigh, applied for bail on certain conditions, but will not say what those
conditions are. The Crown also applied
for an order prohibiting any further publication of pictures of the two men. Judge Patrick Mahony
granted the order until further notice and remanded the two men on bail to
reappear in two weeks. |
