Two women drug-tested over rape complaints

Two Taranaki women are being tested for traces of stupefying drugs after they and five others complained they were drugged and raped.

Sex abuse counsellors say the seven women - aged between 19 and 38 - woke after a being out in New Plymouth or Stratford late last week, to discover evidence of often brutal sexual assaults.

One woman has laid a complaint with the police, but they want to hear from anyone else who believe they have been attacked.

The Taranaki Safer Centre spokeswoman Lorraine Jans says doctors have taken urine and blood samples from some of the women.
