Drug-rape complainants urged to come forward

Taranaki police have still not heard from the eight women who say they were drugged and raped after drinking at bars in the region.

Rape Crisis has heard complaints from eight women this week, who had been at pubs in New Plymouth and Stratford.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward says police would like to hear from the women, so they can try to find those responsible. He says there is often a good reason why women do not talk to police, but it is important they do, so an investigation can be launched.

Mr Coward is also warning those heading out this weekend, to keep an eye on their drinks, and refuse drinks from strangers.
